Abstract All nuclear explosions are banned by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. In context of treaty a verification regime was put into place to detect, locate, and characterize at any time, anyone everywhere on Earth. The International Monitoring System, which plays key role in regime, set up Preparatory Commission Treaty Organization. Out several different monitoring techniques applied System seismic waveform approach is most effective reliable technology for underground. This study introduces deterministic method threshold that allows asses lower body wave magnitude limit potential event certain geographical region, can be detected those stations being part network. based measurements ambient noise levels individual along with global distance corrections terms magnitude. results suggest an average detection capability approximately 4.0 achieved using only from primary network System. incorporation auxiliary leads slight improvement capability, while use analysis arrivals distances greater than 120 $$^\circ$$ ? significant capability. Temporal variations hourly monthly changes not observed.
